About Tiny Cars
Tiny Cars is a time-trial racer set at floor level. Your car is a small toy, and the tracks are built from things you would find in a bedroom or living room: stacked books, coloured toy blocks, the leg of a table and the edge of a rug. Seen from the toy's height, a pile of blocks becomes a wall and a book becomes a ramp.
Simbiot, the developer, focuses on precision rather than spectacle. There are no rivals on the track. Instead, every run is a race against the clock and against a ghost replay of your own best attempt, and the leaderboard records how far you can push your time down.
How to play Tiny Cars
Straight into the action
There is no long menu. After the opening advert, the first track loads and an on-screen guide shows the controls, with the timer already visible at the bottom.
Controls
Accelerate and reverse with W and S or the Up and Down arrows, and steer with A and D or Left and Right. Press R or Backspace to restart instantly, and E to hide the ghost. On a touch screen, on-screen arrows replace the keys.
Checkpoints
Each track has a series of checkpoints. You must pass through all of them to finish; missing one means turning back, which ruins the time. Obstacles such as block walls and furniture punish a wide line.
Ghosts and leaderboards
After your first finish, a ghost car replays your best run. Racing alongside it shows you exactly which corner costs you time.
Tips for faster times
- Restart early. If the first corner goes wrong, press R straight away rather than finishing a slow lap.
- Lift before tight turns. The toy car turns well at moderate speed but slides wide when flat out.
- Use the ghost as a guide. Follow its line for one lap, then try to beat it on the next.
- Learn the jumps. Hitting a ramp straight keeps the car stable when it lands.
- Small corrections only. Holding a steering key too long sends the car into the scenery.
Your first track
The first track is short and forgiving, so it is the best place to learn how the toy car turns. Drive one slow lap just to find every checkpoint, then try to beat that time on the next attempt. Once your ghost appears, race it lap after lap until you are confident, and only then move on to the next track.
