About Extreme Formula Racing
Extreme Formula Racing puts you in the cockpit of a single-seater. The camera sits just behind the steering wheel, with the big front tyres either side of you and a colourful city circuit rushing towards the screen. It is one of the most immersive views in our collection, and it makes even an ordinary straight feel fast.
The game comes from AxesInMotion, a studio known for arcade driving games. Instead of laps on a closed circuit, stages are long runs through the city with checkpoints to reach and rival formula cars to pass. The time remaining and your speed are shown in the top right, and the distance to the next checkpoint sits at the top of the screen.
How to play Extreme Formula Racing
The menu
After the title screen, the garage view shows your car on the grid with the stage number above it. Garage lets you choose and improve cars, and three tabs at the bottom select Elite, League and Career. Press Play to start the current stage.
Driving
Use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D: up to accelerate, down to brake and left and right to steer. On a phone, on-screen controls do the same job. The car is quick to respond, so steering inputs should be small at high speed.
Checkpoints and time
Each checkpoint you reach adds time to the clock. If the timer reaches zero before the next checkpoint, the stage ends. Overtaking rivals keeps you on the fastest line rather than stuck behind slower cars.
Coins and cars
Coins earned in stages unlock new formula cars and new environments.
Tips for faster stages
- Look far ahead. From the cockpit, the road just in front is hard to see; watch the horizon for bends.
- Overtake on straights. Passing in corners risks hitting a rival's rear wheel.
- Avoid the kerbs. Hitting the edge of the track slows you more than braking would.
- Keep the throttle steady. Smooth driving uses the clock better than bursts of speed and braking.
Career, League and Elite
Career is the main path through the game, with numbered stages that unlock one after another. League and Elite appear alongside it on the menu, offering harder competition once you have a faster car. Working through Career first is the best way to earn the coins you need, and it teaches the handling before the opposition gets tougher.
Is it hard?
The early stages are generous with time, so beginners can finish them with steady driving. Later stages ask for cleaner overtakes and fewer brushes with the kerb.
