About Hill Climber

Hill Climber is a side-on physics driving game in which the landscape is the opponent. You drive a jeep with oversized wheels along a dirt road through farmland, past windmills and fields, and the road rises and falls in ever steeper hills. The goal is to cover as much distance as possible before you flip over or the fuel runs out.

It is made by Beedo Games, the studio behind Eggy Car, and it uses the same easy-going cartoon style and the same two-pedal controls. Where Eggy Car adds a fragile egg to the roof, Hill Climber keeps things pure: it is about the balance between throttle and brake, and about reaching the next fuel can in time.

How to play Hill Climber

Before you start

The main menu shows the jeep with a big Play button, a car button for vehicles and upgrades, a language selector and sound settings. Press Play and the first run begins with a short reminder of the controls.

Controls

Press the Right arrow or D to accelerate and the Left arrow or A to brake or reverse. On a touch screen, two pedals sit at the bottom of the screen. Dials at the bottom show your speed and how much fuel is left.

Balance and fuel

Accelerating hard tilts the nose up; braking tips it forward. Hold the throttle too long on a steep climb and the jeep flips backwards. Fuel drains as you drive, and cans placed along the road refill it.

Distance and coins

A progress bar at the top shows how far you have driven. Coins on the road unlock new vehicles and upgrades.

Tips for going further

  • Ease off near the top of a hill. Most flips happen when the jeep is still accelerating over a crest.
  • Use the brake in the air. Tapping the brake mid-jump tips the nose down for a safer landing.
  • Do not waste fuel. Spinning the wheels on a steep climb burns fuel without moving you forward.
  • Upgrade the engine and fuel tank. Both let you reach steeper hills further down the road.

Your first run

Start by driving slowly to the first proper hill and watching how the jeep tilts as it climbs. Feel how long you can hold the accelerator before the nose lifts, then try the same hill a little faster. Most of the skill is learning that limit, and each new upgrade moves it a little further.

Who will enjoy Hill Climber

It is perfect for short breaks and younger players. If you like it, try the egg-balancing version, Eggy Car, or test your nerve on ramps in Turbo Stunt Racing. More in our racing games.

Hill Climber FAQ

How does a run end in Hill Climber?

Either the car flips over or it runs out of fuel. Fuel cans along the road top up the tank, so reaching the next one is part of the challenge.

Is Hill Climber like Eggy Car?

Yes. Both come from Beedo Games and use the same style of side-on physics driving. Hill Climber has no egg to protect, so the focus is on balance and fuel.

What are coins used for?

Coins collected on the road unlock new vehicles and upgrades from the car button on the main menu.
