About Sports Car Drift
Sports Car Drift is a 3D driving game made for one purpose: sliding a fast car sideways through corners. You begin in a garage where you can browse a selection of sports cars and choose the one you like the most. Then you select a track and head out to practise the art of drifting at high speed.
There are no rivals to beat and no traffic to dodge. The track is yours, which makes this a relaxing place to learn how a car behaves when the rear tyres lose grip. Once the basics click, the fun comes from linking one drift into the next and keeping the car sideways for as long as possible.
How to play Sports Car Drift
Controls
The car uses the classic keyboard layout: W is the throttle, S slows you down or backs you up, and A and D turn the wheel. Space pulls the handbrake and Escape pauses the game.
Starting a drift
Approach a corner with plenty of speed. Turn in with A or D, then tap Space. The handbrake locks the rear wheels, the back of the car swings out and you are drifting.
Holding the slide
Once the car is sideways, steer against the slide and feather the accelerator. Too much throttle spins you round; too little lets the car straighten up. Finding the balance between the two is what drifting is all about.
Drifting tips
- Tap the handbrake, do not hold it. A short tap starts the slide; holding it simply slows you down.
- Keep your eyes on the exit. Your hands follow your eyes, so watch where the corner ends, not the wall beside you.
- Start in open spaces. Wide corners give you time to correct mistakes while you learn.
- Try different cars. Each car in the garage reacts differently, and one may suit your style better.
- Link the corners. As you improve, try to flick the car from one drift straight into the next.
A good place to learn
Because nothing on the track can crash into you, Sports Car Drift is a forgiving way to understand weight transfer, oversteer and throttle control. Those skills carry over to every other drifting game on the site.
Choosing a track
After you pick your car, the game asks you to select a track. Start with the most open layout you can find, where wide corners and long run-offs leave room for mistakes. Once you can hold a slide through a full corner, move on to tighter tracks where the walls punish every lazy correction. Switching tracks now and then keeps the practice fresh and shows you how speed and space change the way a drift feels.
Who will enjoy it
This game suits players who want to practise drifting without pressure. If you prefer a challenge with missions and rivals, try Furious GT Drift, or take your skills to the city at night in Drift City. There are plenty more in our drifting games.
